From Koreshan State Historic Site

As part of my backcountry backdates project

From Koreshan State Historic Site

(a project where I post impressions and photos of RV travel stuff that I forgot to write about), I am going to post a bit about the Koreshan State Historic Site where I camped for about a week in Florida. I’ll be brief with these backdates and photo teasers.

The State Park and Historic site is located in Estero Florida. I found it sort of by accident, as I saw the sign. I pulled in and enjoyed my stay quite a bit. Now this park had some great places to put a canoe in, and things to see nearby. One of these is the Koreshan Unity Settlement. So I’ll post several pics of that as my photo teasers. Feel free to click on the photos and visit the public album at Picasa. These photos are geo tagged (a cool feature) and mostly feature pics of the settlement. Sorry I missed out on taking pictures of some of the other goodies at the park. Just click on the thumbs to get the full photos and captions and enjoy the photo teaser.

I have been playing around in another State Park about 23 miles east of Tampa. Its called Little Manatee River State Park. I’ve taunted some gators, mocked some turtles, rode my bike around many of the trails, found a few geocaches with my Garmin Etrex legend handheld gps device. Yes, geocaching is my new hobby. Its sort of a high-tech game of hide and seek. I think of it as a game for nerds like me who also love the outdoors.
You can read more about the game at geocaching.com.

Been geocaching today. Its fun. I have a new Garmin Etrex legend handheld GPS unit. I’ve been treasure hunting around Osprey Florida at a State Park. I’ll post more later.
