Long Point Park Melbourne Beach Florida
A handy little campground off A1A in Melbourne Beach. It was a nice little campground on the Indian River. Some of the spots were right up next to the river and people could bring their boats up to the campsites. The park also featured Scout Island, which was a neat little island to walk and explore on. There was a bridge crossing the river to the Island, and I enjoyed the nice walk around it. I didn't find any treasure-chest though or any Spanish gold washed up on the beach.. I mean this is the treasure coast, so I don't know how I could miss out on that.
Another thing about the park that I enjoyed was biking around some of the trails through the mangrove swamps. Now I didn't catch any fish off of the island, or in the river, but geez, after I got away from the beaten path , I found places off the trail in the Mangrove swamp that were just teaming with life. Yes, all kind of little fishes where there, going zoom zoom through the waters. The place is quite the popular spot for the locals on the weekends as tons of folks came in with their boats and campers to play, but then vanished on Sunday. I found the place real nice on the weekdays. I went to this park with my family, so we all meet up there and had our own campers, and we could park together. There is also a near by State Park, Sebastian Inlet State Park, I rode down to it from Long Point (about a half mile) and explored it on my bicycle with a day pass. The State Park has a campground as well. Both Long Point Park and the State park have boat launches. There is also a nice museum , The McLarty Treasure Museum, just down the road past the state park. I got a kick out of all the Pirate history, and treasure coast history that it featured. There are several public beach spots to access the Atlantic beaches with in a bike ride from the Campground. My preference was to get on my scooter , shoot down to the beach access past the state park park that is just past Sebastian Inlet .
